Undetected underground hot wires pose a danger for a HDD operator and can involve significant liabilities for the construction company. A device for detecting such hot wires consists of a ferromagnetic ring, which surrounds the base of the drilling pipe, and wire loops for detecting magnetic fields. The electronic part of the device allows detecting preset frequencies of the current, practically eliminating false alarms caused by operation of other electronic devices. |
